Heroic Women International

God is in the slums, in the cardboard boxes where the poor play house. God is in the silence of a mother who has infected her child with a virus that will end both their lives. God is in the cries heard under the rubble of war. God is in the debris of wasted opportunity and lives, and God is with us if we are with them.”        —Bono, U2

As a journalist with some traveling under my belt, I have come to believe that more often than not the women of the world are the backbones of their society, from the family unit to organizations that offer compassionate help and hope to the hungry and hurting within their sphere of influence.

In response to his critics, Jesus correctly stated the two greatest commandments in God’s law—to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matt. 22:37-40).  In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus went on to explain that as His followers, we are to care for the downtrodden and helpless among us, and that by serving others we are serving Him.  These edicts are complimentary, and create a powerful and harmonious mental image illustrating that providing for others’ needs (in the same way that we would care for ourselves) is akin to an act of worship.

Heroic Women International is a soon-to-be non-profit ministry designed to help American women help women around the globe improve their local communities and their nations.

God willing, the time to form Heroic Women International as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is fast approaching, with the express purpose of providing funds to women who are “making a difference” in communities of need around the world.  These women may be Americans or foreign nationals working in their hometowns.  The viability and integrity of the work will be authenticated to ensure that the funds are used appropriately and with minimal overhead expense, in some cases by partnering with larger organizations already serving in needy areas.

The ministry of Heroic Women International will be funded primarily through the profits of my writing.  Readers will also have an opportunity to help support this nonprofit ministry through tax-deductible donations.  Watch this website for more information.
